Parkland Estate
Our Newton Park and Sion Hill campuses are outstandingly beautiful and historically significant. We take our responsibilities to protect this environment very seriously indeed, and we feel strongly that higher education has an important wider role in achieving sustainability and helping reduce climate change.
Caring for Our Environment
Bath Spa University staff and students are committed to protecting the environment and achieving sustainability. The University has invested substantial resources in an energy management programme designed to help reduce the impact on global warming and climate change.
Environmentally Friendly Practices
We manage our campuses in ways that are sympathetic to the environment and, in the case of the Newton Park campus, consistent with the environmental policies of our landlord (the campus is part of the Duchy of Cornwall). The extensive parkland estate at Newton Park is entirely pesticide-free and operates on organic principles.
We take great care to consider the environmental impact of all new developments, such as the new Performing Arts arena on the Newton Park campus. We encourage a reduction in the use of cars and an increase in the use of public transport and other forms of travel.
In addition a wide range of recycling activities takes place across both campuses. We use environmentally friendly stock for all our paper and printed documents, and we reduce, reuse and recycle all the resources we use where practicable.
All of these activities are guided by an Environment Advisory Group, which includes both staff and students in its membership.
